Silver Bielefelders are one of those breeds that quietly do everything well. They’re sturdy, easygoing birds with beautiful silver plumage and a reputation for being friendly and dependable. They fit just as comfortably into a backyard flock as they do on a working homestead, offering a lovely balance of size, personality, and consistency.

Eggs are typically large to jumbo and range from light to medium brown, sometimes decorated with darker splotchy speckling. A few of our girls also lay with heavy bloom, which can give the shells a soft pink-toned glow. As with all natural eggs, color, bloom, and finish vary by hen and by light, and no two are exactly alike.

One of the most charming features of this breed is that they are auto-sexing. From the moment they hatch, chicks tell you who they are. Pullets arrive darker, with crisp striping and bold eyeliner, while cockerels hatch lighter with softer, less defined markings.

Once eggs leave the homestead, hatch rates and final outcomes depend on factors beyond our control, including shipping conditions and individual incubation practices. For this reason, hatch rates and outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
