Egg Color Characteristics
Croad Langshan eggs are typically large and light brown, sometimes showing soft pink, lavender, or plum undertones. Some hens lay with a heavier natural bloom while others do not, and bloom expression may vary with season.
The Croad Langshan is a large, rare Asiatic breed with roots in China, cherished here for its gentle nature, calm presence, and ability to thrive through both cold winters and humid heat, all while laying quietly beautiful eggs. This listing includes six (6) fresh hatching eggs, collected daily and handled with care to give them the best possible beginning.
Bonus eggs included when the hens allow it.
Langshan eggs carry a softness that’s hard to put into words. Their light brown shells often hold subtle hints of pink, lavender, or plum, the kind of tones you only notice when the light is just right. Some eggs arrive with a misty veil of bloom that gives them a matte, almost porcelain finish, while others are cleaner and warm in tone. Occasional light speckling may appear, adding a touch of character. These gentle variations are part of what makes Langshan eggs feel so special.
Croad Langshans themselves are beloved for their remarkably calm, affectionate personalities. They are curious, people-oriented birds with an easy presence, often compared to golden retrievers for their steady, kind nature. In our experience, this gentleness extends to the roosters as well. We have never had a mean or aggressive Langshan rooster, something we value deeply and intentionally preserve in our breeding program.
They are dependable winter layers, capable foragers, and tolerate confinement with ease. In addition to their egg production, Langshans are valued for their high-quality white meat, making them a true dual-purpose breed well suited to a thoughtful homestead.
If you’re drawn to soft-toned eggs, peaceful birds, and a flock that feels calm rather than busy, Croad Langshans bring a quiet, comforting presence to the coop, the kind that makes mornings feel slower and steadier.
Disclaimer
Our birds are raised with care and intention, emphasizing gentle temperaments, steady productivity, and overall usefulness within a balanced flock. We thoughtfully work our lines toward the breed Standard of Perfection (SOP) over time, while keeping health, practicality, and livability at the heart of our breeding goals. These birds are not offered as show or exhibition quality, but are well suited for home flocks, hobby breeders, and small-scale breeding projects.
Eggs are collected daily and handled with care, coming from healthy, well-maintained breeding stock here on the homestead. Each egg is stored properly prior to shipment or local pickup to give it the best possible start.
While fertility is monitored, hatching eggs are always a bit of a leap of faith. Once eggs leave the homestead, hatch rates and outcomes depend on factors beyond our control, including shipping conditions and individual incubation practices. By purchasing hatching eggs, you acknowledge these natural risks and understand that hatch and fertility cannot be guaranteed.
